Students Showcase Projects at Science Fair

The third annual McMurray Science Fair ushered in a well-deserved Spring Break for all on the Friday afternoon of April 3. All students in grades 6-8 were invited to, coached through, and celebrated for their curiosity and scientific research and discovery. Over 150 different displays of primary and secondary research were on display for all to investigate and learn about, including family and friends from our larger community.
Each grade level celebrated winning presentations highlighting projects from the color of light and plant growth, the impact of fear on heart rate, how movies impact us emotionally, how people with ADHD learn/listen standing vs sitting, the effects of music on cats, how constellations move over time, how different plants can help keep fish tanks clean, harmonic variations in guitar chords, fuel use in jets, the strength of carbon fiber, and where in our homes is most hospitable for bacteria.
A huge thank you to all the support and patience at home. Many students conducted long-running experiments outside of the classroom that could not have been successful without family support. And thank you to all who came to view, ask questions, and celebrate student curiosity through the lens of science. It was our highest attended science fair so far! We look forward to the scientific discoveries and creativity our students will develop for next year!
